The story of New Augusta Bluegrass Band begins in May of 2008 when bluegrass pals David Schroeder (guitar), Lisa Wagoner Schroeder (upright bass), John Gates (mandolin), and Rich Walter (banjo) came together for a pick-up gig - and never looked back! After Rich's departure for a dream job at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, Roger Banister now holds down the banjo spot, and also plays fiddle. Everyone sings lead and harmonies, allowing for a lot of variety in vocal styles, and the band feels just as comfortable on the traditional bluegrass and old-time end of the roots music continuum as they do on old country, newgrass, and swing. Throw in some inventive originals, surprising covers, stories, and jokes, and you have an idea of what to expect from a New Augusta Bluegrass show. Get ready to have some fun!
